Prior to opening his own criminal defense practice, Ivan worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade county for 4 years. During his years as a prosecutor, Ivan tried over 40 jury trials, 100 bench trials, and 100 constitutional motions to suppress. Based on his unique litigation skills, Ivan was the youngest prosecutor ever to be selected to serve in a specialized white collar crimes unit. In this unit, Ivan directed several large scale RICO and Mortgage Fraud criminal investigations.
Ivan attended law school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale and graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree in 2009. He received membership into the prestigious Moot Court Honor Society and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, where Ivan was selected to represent his school on several mock trial teams that competed across the country. During graduation, Ivan was one of only four students awarded with the Board of Barristers award for displaying excellence in trial advocacy.
During his last year in law school, Ivan was accepted to take part in an intensive international criminal law course in the Hague, Netherlands. As a result, Ivan has a deep understanding of complex international criminal law issues.
Ivan received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University with a Major in Psychology and Minor in Communications. During college, Ivan interned at the Burke Niazi Law Firm in London, England doing criminal defense work.
In his free time, Ivan was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Key Clubhouse of South Florida an organization whose mission is to assist those who suffer from mental illness.
